Using OS Match & Cleanse API, you can:
- Match a specific address accurately in the United Kingdom, Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey
- Cleanse partial or incorrect addresses
- Obtain the UPRN for matched addresses
- Search both Royal Mail and Local Authority address datasets
- Geocode addresses (add the location element)
Additional information
Handling batches
OS Match & Cleanse API is not designed for bulk matching, although it can handle small batches. If you are doing this, the API throttle should be taken into consideration. If bulk matching is something you would like to do in large quantities, please get in touch to discuss options.
General area requirements
OS Match & Cleanse API won’t find general areas (such as ‘forest’). For this requirement we recommend you use OS Names API.
Accuracy on a map
Each address record contains geographic co-ordinates meaning that you can position it accurately on a map. They also contain the Unique Property Reference Number (UPRN) so you can cross reference the results with other datasets and ensure consistency.
